Elevate Erie Comprehensive Plan & Transportation Mobility Plan
Project Overview: Elevate Erie is an update to the Comprehensive Plan and the Transportation Mobility Plan (TMP).

Project Overview: Elevate Erie is an update to the Comprehensive Plan and the Transportation Mobility Plan (TMP).

Erie’s current Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2005 and updated in 2015. The Transportation Plan was last updated in 2018. Since the last updates, the Town has continued to change, not only as the result of growth and development, but also due to changing priorities and evolving values of the community. To ensure our plan represents an accurate, comprehensive, and inclusive vision for the Town’s future, Elevate Erie will focus on key topics such as:
- Mobility and enhanced transportation options
- Sustainability and resilience
- Affordable housing
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Other topics identified by the community

Remove the “Mobility” component of the plan.
Driving is a derived demand, not a basic need. Focus planning efforts on making daily needs easily and cheaply accessible rather than on ensuring a congestion-free peak hour commutes and shopping trips. We have known for almost 100 years now that expanding roads leads to more driving and less safe roads. In a time of increasing road fatalities, and impending climate costs, it no longer makes sense to have “Mobility” as a top level planning objective for anything except regional shipping.

A community outdoor pool would be great!

I would love to see the neighborhood of Compass connected with sidewalks to the rest of the towns sidewalks. It would be great to get around town with kids safely.

I know you've been trying and they've been difficult. But we need to find a way to resolve issues with RTD and get them established in Erie. Can we go over them or involve a third party to expedite their response? It's not that they don't have money. They have LOTS. PS We should be getting a tax credit for all the RTD we've never had.

Advantages of a Roundabout First policy from ChatGPT: A "roundabout first" policy refers to a transportation planning approach where roundabouts are prioritized over other types of intersections. Here are some potential advantages of this policy: Improved safety: Roundabouts are generally safer than traditional intersections because they reduce the number of potential conflict points between vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians. By reducing the likelihood of serious accidents, a roundabout-first policy can help save lives and prevent injuries. Increased traffic flow: Roundabouts can handle more traffic than traditional intersections because they keep traffic moving continuously, with fewer stops and starts. This means that drivers spend less time waiting at red lights and more time driving, which can reduce congestion and travel times. Reduced pollution: By reducing the amount of time that vehicles spend idling at intersections, a roundabout-first policy can help reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. This can be especially beneficial in urban areas where air quality is a concern. Lower maintenance costs: Roundabouts typically require less maintenance than traditional intersections because they have fewer moving parts (e.g., no traffic signals). This can help reduce maintenance costs for transportation agencies and ultimately save taxpayers money. Enhanced aesthetics: Roundabouts can be designed with landscaping and other aesthetic features that make them more visually appealing than traditional intersections. This can help improve the overall look and feel of a community and make it a more attractive place to live, work, and visit. Overall, a roundabout-first policy can provide a range of benefits for both drivers and communities. However, it's important to note that roundabouts may not be the best choice for every intersection, and that careful planning and design are essential to ensure that they are effective and safe. Dicks Sporting Goods is planning 3 new House of Sport buildings in Colorado over the next 5 years. Erie should make a bid for one
