Parks & Recreation TNACC Fund
This year, the Town of Erie Parks & Recreation Department wants to explore our options related to the future of our Trails, Natural Areas, and Community Character (TNACC) fund. This is our current 4.0 mill property tax fund that funds the purchase of natural areas and open space, creates and connects trails, preserves wildlife habitats, protects natural areas around creeks, and conserves scenic landscapes.
Facts Regarding Current TNACC Fund
The TNACC Fund was approved by voters in 2004 and again in 2014. The fund is currently operating at a voter approved 4 mill levy which equates to approximately $2.0 million annually. Unless extended, this fund will sunset (expire) in 2024.
- The fund is currently used to purchase natural areas and open space; create and connect trails; preserve wildlife habitats; protect natural areas around creeks; and conserve scenic landscapes.
- TNACC is administered under guidance of a community-led advisory board, OSTAB.
- Existing funds have purchased over 400 acres of open space and 21 miles of trails. Examples include: Wise Woods Open Space, Allen Farms Open Space, improvements to the Singletrack Trails, and Coal Creek Trail connectors.
